As my home gym, this review was long overdue, but I wanted to wait until after the reset following the Flow competition celebrating the gym’s fifth anniversary. Now, the time has come!

Location and Parking

Bossche Boulders is situated in an industrial area, which can be convenient, but be mindful of parking restrictions. While it may seem like you can park anywhere, this isn’t always the case, and checks are frequent. If arriving by car, double-check where parking is permitted to avoid unpleasant surprises.

Layout of the Gym

The boulder gym Bossche Boulders is divided into two sections. In the first area, you’ll find a fantastic view of the iconic boulder "mushroom" wall from the bar. The second area features another mushroom wall surrounded by additional climbing surfaces, as well as a large rolling door leading to an outdoor wall that’s only open during the summer. Upstairs, you’ll find changing rooms and a cozy rooftop terrace, perfect for warm days.

The training area is compact yet well-equipped, boasting a 40-degree kilter board ideal for serious training.

Changes and Upgrades

Over the years, Bossche Boulders has made significant upgrades. The mats now have a carpet layer, keeping holds cleaner for longer. New holds have been added from renowned brands like Unit and Axis, alongside lesser-known options such as Vezi Holds and Boosters/Eclipses by Adam Ondra. New additions like no-texture holds and Wideboyz Crack Units offer something fresh for climbers eager to try new challenges.

Routes and Variety

Routes are set by color and provide a wide range of styles. While pink typically ranges from level 4 to 5, there are occasional exceptions, such as a 6C. The gym often experiments with unique climbing experiences, including campus boulders, run-and-jump walls, and, currently, a dyno section.

Compared to Monk Eindhoven, which leans toward a classic style, Bossche Boulders stands out for its diversity. From competition-style problems and bathangs to crack climbing and delicate slabs, the variety ensures climbers are challenged in every possible way.

My Personal Experience

I climb at my home gym several times a week, focusing on weekly new boulders, project attempts, and kilter board training.
